Moscow, Idaho (KLEW) — Police have released new information regarding the homicides of four University of Idaho students.
Investigators said Saturday that the cell phone used to call 911 belonged to one of the surviving roommates but will not identify who the call was made by. The call to report an unconscious person was made from inside the home on Sunday, November 13, at 11:58 a.m.
When Moscow police officers arrived at the residence, they discovered the bodies of Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Kaylee GonCalves, and Madison Mogen. All of them had been stabbed multiple times with a large knife. They were found on the second and third floors.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, GonCalves and Mogen were at a downtown bar, then grabbed a snack at a food truck. They took a private ride home, which was just over a mile away, from a male.
Police have now investigated that driver and said they do not believe he is involved in this crime.
Detectives also believe that on November 12th, the two surviving roommates had been out in the Moscow community, separately, but returned home by 1 a.m. The two did not wake up until later on November 13th.
Detectives are aware of multiple phone calls from victims Mogen and GonCalves to a male, but they have not clarified how many calls and what the time calls were made. Police said this information is part of the ongoing investigation.
