MERIDIAN, Idaho (CBS2) — An Irish daughter, mother and grandmother trio are excited to host Saint Patrick's Day celebrations at their pub this weekend. Guests can expect whiskey tastings, bagpipes, Irish dancers and more at The Harp in Meridian.
"We have food specials, drink specials, we'll have $5 Jameson, $3 beers, and lots of giveaways,"said owner of The Harp Jaime Deal.
Deal says her family has owned The Harp for five years and that they base their menu off her mother's homemade recipes. Her mother makes their Irish soda bread every morning from scratch.
"She peels the potatoes herself. We mash them, do everything from scratch," said Deal. "We don't take any shortcuts."
Deal says The Harp has more Irish beers on tap than any other Irish pub in the West Coast.
"We actually called all the Irish pubs on the West Coast, so that included California, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming, and they averaged four to five taps at any given time, ours are at eight," said Deal.
The harp is a national symbol of Ireland worldwide, like the shamrock. Deal says they hope to share their Irish history with guests and connect with the community.
"Everything that is put up is intentional," said Deal. "We have tried to bridge the Idaho-Ireland gap."
Deal says she served in the Idaho National Guard for eight years and is grateful to the community for their support.
"That's really what I want people to do here is to start chatting and getting to know each other and have a place to come together."
The Harp is located at1435 N Eagle Rd, Meridian. You can learn more about them here.
